Theories and Behavior in Health

This class taught me how to define and correlate theories in behavior with my accidental find for my love of psychology. This was my first honors class in the program and I found what I was learning easy to relate to myself. I learned how to make small changes in my behavior to help improve my overall health.

Healthcare Informatics

This class was a mystery to me until I was able to get in and read the syllabus. I reached out to a local pharmacy where I was accepted for an informal internship. I learned to put immunization and vaccination information into the Georgia Registry of Immunization Transactions System (GRITS). I created a blog of the entire experience. You can find the blog here:

Ethics in Healthcare

I knew what I was walking into with this project. I knew I wanted to highlight an advanced directive for my honors project. I wanted to learn from the very beginning of the process how to accomplish creating this legal document. I was fortunate enough to walk away from this project with my own advanced directive, and I was honored to help four of my friends create theirs also. I created a short documentary to commemrate the process.

Healthcare in Diverse Cultures

Cultural diversity is a standard in America. It is important to be culturally diverse in all aspects of life, not only healthcare. This was my second honors class at GHC. The amount of experience I take away from this class will carry over into my professional career.

Biochemistry

This was not part of my health science pathway, but I wanted to dig deeper into biochemistry to see if I had a passion for it. I found this project particularly challenging, but I loved learning how to make protein visualization software to showcase my assigned enzyme.

Leadership and Management in Health Professions

This is by far my favorite honors project. I reached out to the leaders at Georgia Highlands College to ask them if they would join me in the podcast booth on campus to make a podcast series with several different episodes spanning across the many skills of leadership. You can access the podcast from the PowerPoint below by copying and pasting the links.
